YouTube For iPhone X Gets A Pinch To Zoom For Full Screen Viewing On OLED Display

YouTube for iOS updates adds support for full-screen viewing on iPhone X with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. YouTube for iPhone X gets the pinch to zoom feature to watch YouTube videos in full-screen mode alongside. Here are the details.

If you are an iPhone X owner, then you will soon be able to watch videos with 19.5:9 aspect ratio in full-screen viewing support for iPhone X. Apple’s first bezel-less smartphone with Super Retina display, has been launched in September. While iPhone X users were not able to watch videos covering the whole screen, as YouTube, like most other video streaming sites – offer content in a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Now that, YouTube for iOS v12.43 gets a “pinch-to-zoom” feature to switch to full-screen. On iPhone X, the feature crops content to a 19.5:9 ratio when viewing content in full-screen. And some of the video content will also be cropped from the top and bottom as well as the notch. You can now download the updated version of YouTube for iPhone X right away.

As Apple unveiled the iPhone X a couple of months back but the majority of apps are yet to support the new 2:1 aspect ratio. Developers are working on adding support for the new aspect ratio. Google’s YouTube is one of the first application to be fully optimized for the new iPhone X’s 19.5:9 ratio.
