ZTE Axon 7 Introduced: First Daydream-Ready Smartphone From China Shown Off At MWC 2017


ZTE has officially introduced their first Google Daydream-ready smartphone at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017) trade show, the ZTE Axon 7. Originally, this smartphone was announced back in May last year, and today ZTE has showcased the smartphone after the Android Nougat update, which indeed offers support for Google’s Daydream VR platform. Now, it’s not the actual whole new smartphone, rather an upgraded model of the company’s already released handset from the past. Here are the full details.

The ZTE Axon 7 is one of the best smartphone had great specs to begin with, this hardware ships with a 5.5-inch QHD 2560-by-1440 AMOLED display, is powered by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 and paired with 4GB of RAM. Otherwise, the device is very much compatible with Google’s Daydream VR platform now. ZTE also equipped tons of new features into the Axon 7 smartphone with the Android Nougat update, as you can now take advantage of the multi-window feature addition that lets you run two apps side-by-side, there’s still tons of emojis, new battery inclusions provided by Google through the always-on Doze, and so on.

To play with the aforementioned new Android Nougat features, you’re also be getting a ton of those via update, essentially. The ZTE Axon 7 is a metal-clad smartphone that also comes packaged with 64GB of expandable internal storage, a 3250mAh battery and a 20-megapixel OIS camera (f/1.8 aperture) on its back. That same camera sits above the dual-LED, dual-tone flash. For selfies, an 8-megapixel shooter is available on the front side of this gadget.


On top of Android 7.0 Nougat, in addition to the specs, you’re also getting ZTE’s new MiFavor UI user interface, and moreover, the device comes with high-quality audio capabilities. It supports 32-bit / 192kHz audio, and impressively offers Dolby Atmos audio enhancements.

The ZTE Axon 7 is still available in Ion Gold, Quartz Gray and Chromium Silver color variants, and the company did not announced any differences as far as the specs or color options are concerned.
